Bangladeshi-American educator and entrepreneur Salman Khan, founder of a free online education platform Khan Academy is a star teacher across the digital world especially for his ultimate success in online education, giving hundreds of millions students from different countries a chance to fun, easy, interactive—and more importantly, free lessons.
Started in 2004, Khan has been uploading teaching videos to YouTube for free. The motivation behind is to offer education with no limits: people do not have to pay for the videos and they can access the videos anytime they desire, learning the specific subjects they are interested in. To many investors, the Khan Academy brings a great business opportunity. However, Khan insists on free education and until today, people can still enjoy “no-advertisement” environment on the world-class virtual school.
Khan’s unique and interesting way of teaching made him the cover on “Forbes” in 2012 and he was also selected as one of the 100 most influential people in the world by “Times” magazine in the same year. As of October 1, 2015, the Khan Academy’s youtube channel has attracted over 2.2 millions subscriptions and reached more than 527 millions views as a whole. No wonder why Bill Gates and his son, Rory Gates are also the biggest fans of this incredible teacher.
