Jack Ma, MaYun is a Chinese business magnate, investor, and philanthropist. He is the co-founder and executive chairman of the Alibaba Group, a multinational tech giant since 2000s. As of August 2018, he is one of the richest men with a net worth of US$38.6 billion in China as well as the world.

In 2011, Ma set up Alibaba Group’s charity namely Alibaba Foundation aimed to devote funds from Alibaba’s 36 partners and its employees to contribute to the fund for social causes.

In 2014, he personally supported the Jack Ma Foundation which aims to promote human development in harmony with both society and the environment, while it’s mission is to work towards a world with healthier communities and more open thinking. From education to environment, to public health and personnel development in philanthropic sector, the foundation intends to awaken social consciousness and responsibility to cultivate an innovative and sustainable model for a better world. Currently their work primary focuses on education area, covering 3 core-parts: the “Jack Ma Rural Teacher Initiative”, the “Jack Ma Rural Headmaster Initiative” and an “Education Network Platform” for all educators and students in China.

Under his leadership, Alibaba Group set up the Alibaba Poverty Relief Fund in 2017 by donating a RMB 10 billion  (US$1.51 billion) fund to support China’s ambitious poverty alleviation campaign over the next five years.
