Abstract:
Michelle Yeoh is a world-renowned actress who gained fame as the first major female star in Hong Kong action films. Born in Malaysia, she was crowned Miss Malaysia in 1983. She gained her Datuk honor in the 90’s who is also the first female Chinese-Malaysian actress to receive such honor.

Michelle was awarded the Darjah Seri Paduka Mahkota Perak, which carries the title ‘Datuk Seri’ by Sultan of Perak Sultan Azlan Shah during the investiture ceremony in conjunction with His Royal Highness’ 84th birthday in May 2012. Again, she became the first female Chinese-Malaysian actress to receive such honor.

Michelle participating in many charity activities, in 2002 she gained “The Ten Outstanding Young Persons” in Malaysia, in the same year she also received “The Ten Outstanding Young Persons” in the world. Yeoh was the ambassador of amFAR (American Foundation for AIDS Research). She also supported wildlife protection group, like WildAid and ACAP (Active Conservation Awareness Program). She is the global ambassador of the Make Roads Safe campaign and representing the group to join meet the representative of United Nation and participating in the Clinton global initiatives.

Michelle take up the post of Director of Suu Foundation in March 2014, together with founder Aung San Suu Kyi, Suu Foundation will be focusing their work in helping improve health care and education in Myanmar.
