Katy Perry is an American singer and songwriter. She rose to fame in 2008 with her second album One of the Boys. In 2010, her third album Teenage Dream made her the first female artist to produce five number-one Billboard Hot 100 Songs in one album, and the second overall only after Michael Jackson. Perry has received awards and nominations including Grammy Awards and three Guinness World Records, making her one of the best-selling artists of all time.

Perry has supported various charitable organizations and causes during her career. She has contributed to organizations aimed at improving the lives and welfares of children in particular. In 2013, she teamed up with UNICEF to assist children in Madagascar with education and nutrition, and was later officially named a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.

Perry has also supported organizations aimed at aiding people suffering with diseases including cancer and AIDS. She has set up donations pages for the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Auckland and David Lynch Foundation.
