The Fauna Conservation Department of Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden, Hong Kong organises the Animal Encounters and Discovery Tables programmes on first three Sundays of each month. Participants will enjoy a close encounter with animals while they increase awareness towards wildlife conservation and illegal wildlife trade, come away with greater respect and appreciation for wildlife, and become empowered to lead greener lifestyles and support wildlife conservation work.

The Fauna Outreach Volunteer Training Programme provides comprehensive training and guidance for volunteers this year and they are looking for any interested & qualified parties (aged 18-60)  to help lead these two programmes and other outreach activities. Volunteers shall be able to gain knowledge in mules, reptiles and birds via sharing the experience in guiding tours and training. Lunch and travel allowance will be provided for each tour and certificate of recognition will be given upon 6 days of service over the first 12 months.

No. of Volunteer Needed: 20 (both Cantonese and English speaking are welcome)

Volunteer Duties:

  • Act as the guide of the Native Mammal Talk as a part of the Animal Encounter programme;
  • Assist Animal Keepers during the Mule, Python and Raptor Talk as a part of the Animal Encounter programme;
  • Introduce animal specimens to visitors as a part of the Discovery Table programme
  • Assist in maintaining the smooth operation of Fauna Outreach activities, e.g. promoting the programmes, managing crowds and handling enquiries

  • Exam: 25th August (Saturday) 10am – 4pm
  • Contingency: 19th August (Sunday) 10am – 4pm
