LOHAS, an acronym for ‘Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability’, describes a demographic of industries, corporate activities and products/services designed to be environmentally conscious, sustainable, socially responsible, and healthier—both for people and the planet.

The LOHAS consumer balances environmental responsibilities when making consumption-related decisions. Here are some ways you can incorporate LOHAS into your everyday life:

  • Support organic and locally grown food
  • Support Fair Trade products

  • Use natural household products (paper goods and cleaning products)
  • Use energy efficient electronics/appliances
  • Use hybrid and electric cars, use bicycles
  • Support sustainable or ecotourism
  • Support socially responsible investing
  • Support green and sustainable building
