Have you been nominated to accept the Ice Bucket Challenge? It is an activity that went viral through social media and raises people’s awareness of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

First, they are to announce their acceptance of the challenge followed by pouring ice into a bucket of water. The bucket is then to be lifted overhead and poured over the participant’s head. Then the participant can call out a challenge to other people. The participant is expected to donate $10 if they have poured the ice water over their head and donate $100 if they have not.

Many celebrities in Hong Kong have joined the activity including Andy Lau, Nick Cheung, Joey Yung and Joseph Jao-Yiu Sung, the Headmaster of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and Ricky Wong, the Chairman of HKTV. Even people from  the political field have participated. As for other regions, Jay Chou, Ayumi Hamasaki, Siwon (Super Junior), Kim Junsu (JYJ) and Katy Perry have also participated this charity activity.

Some of the environmental organizations, yet, indicated the waste of water in the Ice Bucket Challenge. So when you are challenged next time, it’s a good idea to learn from Takeshi Kaneshiro, who accepted the challenge by using used water from dehumidifier on a lawn. You can raise funds for ALS without wasting water resources!
