Introduction: Beam International Foundation (“BEAM”), formerly known as Operation Smile China Medical Mission, is a medical charity headquartered in Hong Kong to provide free surgeries for underprivileged children with cleft lips and / or palates in China. Founded in Hong Kong in 1991, BEAM has changed over 28,000 smiles and lives with the support of volunteers and donors from all over the world. Through intensive resident training as well as surgical and life-saving training programmes, BEAM also helps build long term capabilities of local medical professionals in China.
