Emma Watson is an English actress. She rose to prominence as Hermoine Granger in the Harry Potter series.

Watson has promoted education for girls. In July 2014, she was appointed as a UN Women Goodwill Ambassador. In September, she delivered an address at UN Headquarters helping launch the UN Women campaign HeForShe, which is a solidarity campaign for gender equality, aiming to engage men as agents of change for the achievement of gender equality and women’s rights and encourage men to take action against inequalities faced by women. Watson’s speech about her own path to feminism and call to involve men in promoting gender equality was widely circulated via social media.
